Ko hoku Fāmili - My Family

Malo e lelei tamaiki ! this week we celebrate the tongan language - Lea fakatonga ! Today we start off with a simple task of knowing the tongan names for our famili - family.
Learning more about our immediate and extended families opens many opportunities to discover our heritage language, culture, values and histories. It also enables us to show respect.

Whats changed

what im looking forward next term is, that we get to finish at our normal time maybe and we a going to stay in the same class for the rest of the year, 3 things im looking forward to is doing reading and writing with my reading and writing teacher instead of my maths teacher.

Matariki

On the 26 of june Pt england school had to pick what class they wanted to be in, These were the classes you could pick to be in Arts and Crafts, Cooking and Sports mostly everyone went to Arts and crafts, my highlight was that we got to make stars but the thing we had to to do the most in arts and crafts was cutting and folding, i made 6 stars.





Why Matariki is important celebrations are an important way of marking the passage of time as well as heralding new beginnings there is a group of stars also known as the Pleiades star cluster or The Seven Sisters




The reappearance of the seven Matariki stars, in late May or early June, signals the beginning of the Maori New Year. However, not all iwi celebrate at the same time. Some may begin on the first full moon after the star cluster rises, or on the next new moon.
